{"id":291,"date":"2014-09-26T19:36:20","date_gmt":"2014-09-26T19:36:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tipsytable.com\/?p=291"},"modified":"2014-10-27T22:36:23","modified_gmt":"2014-10-27T22:36:23","slug":"would-you-like-a-spoon-or-pitchfork-with-that-cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/tipsytable.com\/?p=291","title":{"rendered":"Would you like a Spoon or Pitchfork with that Cake?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So how about this latest in bizarre chain restaurant assaults&#8211;the great cake imbroglio at a KFC just north of where we live in Seattle.<\/p>\n<p>The Seattle Times, by John De Leon, September 16, 2014:<\/p>\n<p><em>Working in fast food is no cakewalk.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In fact, sometimes it can be a downright cakefight.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Case in point:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>On Saturday, Seattle police\u00a0Officer Nic Abts-Olsen\u00a0responded to reports of\u00a0an assault at the KFC in the\u00a013200 block of Aurora Avenue North. The weapon of choice: Cake.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Lemon cake, to be exact. But more on that shortly.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>As Abts-Olsen\u00a0and his partner Cliff Borjeson\u00a0rolled to the scene, details of the attack\u00a0trickled in\u00a0from dispatchers: \u201cUnknown male was throwing cake at employees.\u201d Followed by the ominous: \u201cThey can no longer sell the cake.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Employees told the two officers that\u00a0a man walked into the store, threw a\u00a0KFC-brand\u00a0cake at them and then left.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Fortunately, the man\u2019s aim was off.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Staff at the KFC were only able to provide a vague\u00a0description of the man.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>But they\u00a0offered a much more vivid description\u00a0of his weapon: \u201cThe cake was described as a lemon cake, yellow in color and circular and costs exactly $5.19,\u201d\u00a0Officer Abts-Olsen wrote in a report.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Read it here:\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.seattletimes.com\/today\/2014\/09\/assault-by-cake-reported-at-north-seattle-kfc\/\">http:\/\/blogs.seattletimes.com\/today\/2014\/09\/assault-by-cake-reported-at-north-seattle-kfc\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We do not hang out at KFC, though we have plenty of them all around. Seattle residents are known to be weenies, dilettantes, and pacifists (with the occasional socialist) who do not understand that the second amendment is a book of the Bible. A high proportion of Seattleites actually believe in, and have voted for, gun control and probably would not be comfortable in a Waffle House bristling with firearms, or pitchforks, and smelling of grease.
